Dr. José Alberto Almeida Filho believes that modern medicine reaches its fullest potential when advanced technology is combined with attentive and compassionate care.
His career as a neurosurgeon has been guided by a commitment to providing treatments that not only address complex conditions, but also respect each patient’s individual circumstances, personal history and quality of life.
He graduated from the Souza Marques School of Medicine and completed his Neurosurgery residency at Hospital Municipal Miguel Couto in Rio de Janeiro. As a member of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery, he continuously seeks to incorporate modern techniques that provide greater safety and precision in every procedure.
Interventional Neuroradiology is one of the main areas of his practice. After completing fellowships at Hospital Santa Teresa in Petrópolis and at CHU Dupuytren in Limoges, France, he specialized in endovascular techniques for the treatment of aneurysms, vascular malformations and stroke.
These procedures may be performed through catheter-based, percutaneous techniques, without the need for large incisions, resulting in less surgical trauma and faster recovery when medically indicated.
His care is individualized and available in Portuguese, English or French. His goal is to translate the complexity of neurosurgery into a clear, reassuring and safe care plan for each patient.
